Stuffrecords – the label that gave you Rustie, Slugabed, TVO, Truffle Club is now unleashing yet another untapped Scottish talent onto the unsuspecting masses.
Hailing from Aberdeen, Offshore’s brand of high energy crunk influenced computer beats and wobble & b has been wowing us for quite some time. By day Mr Offshore aka Ewan Robertson is a designer of quite some repute and has worked on Roots Manuva and Wiley sleeves for Hip-Hop label Big Dada. He’s also pretty damn tall. Tracks like Beef Strong Enough and Snuggler, marry the low and mean energy of Southern US Hip-Hop with the malfunctioning sounds of 8-Bit electronics. Then there are more plaintive moments like the lovers wobble of Girly whilst Femur is inspired by an irate Aberdonian Bouncer breaking a mates leg.
The EP also features a remix from mutual friend of Offshore and Stuffrecords – Drums Of Death. An old Glasgow friend of ours, Drums of Death has been on fire, check his killer live shows, releases on Hot Chip affiliated label Greco Roman and recent mix for Resident Advisor. We’re not even going to attempt to describe this remix. Just listen and learn.
