We are deeply saddened that dance music originator and extended Numbers family DJ Deeon has ascended.
He was and will forever be an inspirational energy from the Southside of Chicago to beyond – the exploding electronic dance mania of the last three decades owes so much to Debo. We feel blessed to have connected and released a handful of his hits on the ‘Deeon Doez Deeon’ record – a very special moment for us.
Shake What Your Momma Gave Ya, The Freaks, Shake Dat Ass and Work This M.F. are forever classics at Numbers parties, and it was an honour to put ‘2 B Free’ from ‘Deeon Doez Disko’, the first track of his I had heard, on the record and hear it resonate further around the world like it had originally for us. We’ll never forget the Numbers 10th anniversary in New York 2013, which featured two Numbers heroes from the US: Anthony “Shake” Shakir representing Detroit, and Deeon representing Chicago.
Our deepest condolences are with Deeon’s family, nearest and dearest.
Rest In Peace DJ Deeon 🖤🤍
