From humble beginnings in cramped Glasgow basements to record label mergers and curating shows worldwide, Numbers are making the transition from cult club to international phenomenon.
The collective met through Glasgow’s Rubadub record store and the shop’s notorious Club 69 nights, which took place beneath an Indian takeaway in Paisley, on the outskirts of the city. Sharing an appreciation for afterparties and esoteric electronic music, members of the crew branched out as the Numbers club night became more established: three labels were set up, and over the past five years, Stuffrecords, Wireblock & Dress 2 Sweat have been responsible for releasing landmark music by artists such as Rustie, Hudson Mohawke & The Village Orchestra.
