After a brief hibernation we’re back at the Sub Club in Glasgow and it gives us great pleasure to announce that our special guest for our first party of 2012 is Monsieur Kieran Hebden, better known as Four Tet.

As well as being a producer of ill repute and a master selector, Hebden runs Text Records which has released collaborations between himself and Burial as well as one of our favourite records of 2011, the Pinacles / Ye Ye twelve with Daphni.

Numbers on Rinse updates

The annual NYE throwdown is on and this year Numbers and Vitamins are teaming up to see off what has been a great year for both crews.

Seeing as it’s the biggest party of the year, both teams who are renowned for their attention to detail will be collaborating on a custom visuals and lighting show whilst both rooms will be treated to two new specially brought in sound systems.

DJ’s from Numbers and Vitamins, as well as a few friends, will be spread over both floors with the emphasis being purely on the party.

A – Redinho – Stay Together (NMBRS21)

Redinho will round off our hectic year with the release of ‘Stay Together’, an epic one track taster of what is to come from his debut album on Numbers sometime in 2012.

“Stay Together was made in a similar way that I make a lot of my music these days – me sitting at a piano. Once complete I take it into the studio and try and update it all. The piano will be replaced by a Juno, and the vocal melodies will be played on a Talkbox.”

AA – Sibian & Faun – I’m Sorry (NMBRS19)

‘I’m Sorry’ – not the easiest words to say but Siban & Faun do it convincingly with their debut release for Numbers. The Montreal-based duo produce atmospheric dance music with a lurking r&b influence. ‘I’m Sorry’ takes us back to classic Timbaland productions for Missy Elliot et al, with Siban & Faun marrying the innovation and intimacy of those records with a keen production sense that’s firmly rooted in the future.

“In terms of our production ‘I’m Sorry’ marks a turning point. After a summer of making really positive music, winter came and sort of switched things up on us. At the time it was this really dark and intimate track; no synth, no crunchy bass. But we kept coming back to it and it grew.”

From the Dance Mania on steroids vibes of the title track, the acid laced ‘Lime Pie’ and the nightmarish clanging funk of ‘Stalker’, this is one for the freakier end of the dancefloor.

Over recent times Randomer aka Rohan Walder has built up a small but heavy hitting catalogue of work – releasing ‘Brunk’ (on Hessle Audio’s 116 & Rising compilation), the acid tinged ‘Obtuse’ and the carnivalistic do-over ‘Be Electric’. His debut turn for us is a three-track exploration of his darker side.

Pearson Sound

The artist formerly known as Ramadanman is finally making an appearance at Numbers, Glasgow. Alongside Ben UFO and Pangaea, he runs the Hessle Audio label and his productions such as ‘Blimey’, ‘Glut’, ‘Work Them’ and his rework of Masters At Work ‘Deep Inside’ rule dance floors worldwide.

Space Dimension Controller

Another Numbers debut, whether it’s his piano ties or his boogie driven aquatic house, the man like Space Dimension Controller is always on point. Watch out for the forthcoming ‘Pathway To Tiraquan 6’, which is out soon on R&S.

Jackmaster

What he lacks in piano ties he sure makes up for in quiff volume. This year has seen Jack release his debut mix cd ‘Fabriclive.57’, headline Sonar as part of a Numbers showcase and complete two tours of the US. Must try harder.

Opening track ‘Done Me Wrong’ unfurls perfectly, with all the hallmarks of classic garage production; rough, ominous low end and a jacking, infectious beat. The B-side, ‘Bax’, builds on this formula although it focuses more on the punishing, physical side of the bassline. With both these tracks, Mosca’s aim is to make your feet work overtime.
